6 survival tips for the party season

Whether you’re juggling parties, present shopping or platters of food, keep your cool and feel pulled together with the tips below.

1.     Take stock and realign yourself

‘Take a moment today to contemplate how you might weave more of what serves you. Let go of what doesn’t’, advises Monique Van Tulder, Midlife Mentor. ‘When my life takes on too much accumulation, too many commitments, too many deadlines, too much time inside, too much time chasing shiny objects and opportunities, not enough sleep, a drift from prioritising health, then I’m out of whack. Need to realign.’ Wise words.

2.     Dress to feel brighter

Disguise a hangover by wearing a comfortable feeling, better-than-usual looking outfit. Add an interesting accessory and some good sunnies. Wearing something dark (unless it’s sharp black) and slouchy will make you feel low and slow. This summer, a matching set – shirt and shorts or pants is perfect. Easy, looks fab, but feels like you’re in your pj’s.

3.     Fake healthy-looking skin

Not feeling so glowing after too many late nights shopping/wrapping/socialising/wrangling kids? Blemishes or shadows seem to pop up overnight? You need Mavala Magic Powder. It’s a translucent powder that’s both blurring and illuminating, enhancing and mattifying, and the perfect finish to make your skin look healthier than it feels.

4.     Have help to hand

Keep these in your bag for on-the-go refresh:

  • Mavala Vitalizing Alpine Micro-Mist. A quick spritz on your face will make you feel fresher, moisturise your skin, and revive your senses.

  • Mints – these little pep-up’s pack a lot of punch. In some studies, peppermint has been shown to help relieve nausea and vomiting, refresh your mind, and of course your breath. And if you have peppermint oil, dab a tiny bit in your hairline near your temples to soothe a headache.

  • A bottle of water. Essential for when you’re feeling tired, weary, or hungover.

5.     Nail your nails

Have you done that thing when you don’t even have time to stop and remove badly chipped nail polish, and every time you catch a glimpse of your chipped nails, you’re horrified all over again? It’s time to take 10 mins out. Remove your polish, file, and repaint using a base coat, colour and top coat. Sounds crazy but you really will feel more pulled together going forwards into more busy days and nights. Using Mavala Perfect Manicure Kit will make your colour last longer so it’s a valuable time investment.

6.     Walk and talk

Take a moment for yourself – go for a walk around the block. Catch up with a friend you’ve been meaning to wish happy holidays. Nature is natural refreshing for your mind and soul, and connecting with a friend is good soul food too.
